There are still fewer that ofer the prospect of such ultra low cost, ultra long duration energy storage in a modular format (where the modules can be mass produced and are transportable) in order to ensure they are scalable and distributable without significant geographical constraint.
The length of energy storage technologies is divided into two categories: LDES systems can discharge power for many hours to days or even longer, while short-duration storage systems usually remove for a few minutes to a few hours. It is impossible to exaggerate the significance of LDES in reaching net zero.
