In this paper, we present a physics-based electrochemical model of a vanadium redox flow battery that allows temperature-related corrections to be incorporated at a fundamental level, thereby extending its prediction capability to low temperatures. . Vanadium flow batteries (VFBs) have received increasing attention due to their attractive features for large-scale energy storage applications. However, their performance is significantly compromised at low operating temperatures, which may happen in cold climatic conditions. The loss of performance can be attributed to reduced kinetics. . The 100 MW Dalian Flow Battery Energy Storage Peak-shaving Power Station, with the largest power and capacity in the world, has finished its system joint debugging in Dalian, China, and was put into operation in late October.
